Thrane&Thrane Cobham SAILOR — the world standard of marine GMDSS. SAILOR equipment is installed on tens of thousands of vessels from Norway to Japan: navies, merchant fleets, fishing vessels, yachts, coast-guard services. All units we sell are genuine factory-grade Cobham / Thrane&Thrane. // Marine-grade · Since 1931
// World-class GMDSS standard

Why SAILOR

Thrane&Thrane Cobham SAILOR is a Danish marine-electronics maker since 1931. One of two world GMDSS leaders alongside JRC. Approved by IMO, EU MED, USCG, RMRS and RS. Comes by default on most vessels built in Europe and Asia.

01

GMDSS approval (EU MED)

All SAILOR gear is certified under the EU Marine Equipment Directive — mandatory for every SOLAS-class vessel. No exceptions.

02

95 years of fleet standard

Thrane&Thrane founded in 1931, acquired by Cobham in 2012. Nearly a century of supply to the navies of Denmark, Norway, the UK and 90+ commercial fleets worldwide.

03

Certified for RMRS and RS

The SAILOR 6390 kit ships with certificates from the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping and the Russian Classification Society. Drops onto a Russian-flag vessel with no surveyor pushback.

04

All three Navtex frequencies

The SAILOR 6390 simultaneously receives 490 kHz (national language), 518 kHz (international English) and 4 209.5 kHz (tropics and deep ocean). Up to 6000 messages stored.

05

Alarm D — SAR, Mayday, Pirates

The 6390 alarm relay fires only on category D messages: SAR, Mayday relay, pirate attack. No false noise — only what actually requires action.

06

IE charging profile

CH4656 is an automatic charger with IE profile (constant current → float). Charges open and sealed lead-acid batteries with no overcharge, suitable for UPS assemblies on the GMDSS emergency bus.

07

Four-way fused output

Each DC output on the CH4656 has an independent fuse. A short on one load won't drag down the emergency bus. Protection: current, polarity, short-circuit, over-voltage, over-temperature.

08

LAN integration with INS

The SAILOR 6390 connects to the onboard INS (Integrated Navigation System) via NMEA0183 over LAN. Navtex messages are available on every bridge screen at once.

09

NAVDAT-ready

The SAILOR 6390 hardware is NAVDAT 500 kHz-ready (Navtex next gen) — software upgrade. The kit won't go obsolete for at least a decade.

// Where it fits

Vessel types for SAILOR

SAILOR equipment is fitted on anything that floats and carries GMDSS per SOLAS. CH4656 suits small and mid-size vessels (emergency bus), while the SAILOR 6390 Navtex is mandatory on any SOLAS-class ship.

Commercial fleet

Container ships, tankers, bulk carriers, supply vessels. A full GMDSS suite is mandatory under SOLAS. Navtex + UPS on the CH4656 is standard.

Fishing fleet

Seiners, trawlers, freezer mother ships. Distant fishing grounds make 4 209.5 kHz Navtex reception critical. CH4656 feeds the emergency bus.

Passenger

Cruise ships, ferries, excursion catamarans. GMDSS A1+A2+A3+A4, fully duplicated. SAILOR 6390 with RMRS — mandatory.

Service & rescue

Tugs, coast-guard cutters, hydrographic and research vessels. Reliable emergency Navtex reception is key.

Yachts & sailboats

Large motor yachts, cruiser-class sailboats, expedition catamarans. CH4656 is the standard emergency-battery charger in UPS layout.

River & mixed

River-sea, pushboats, barges, river cruise fleet. RS/RRR classification — our SAILOR 6390 kit works out of the box.

Offshore platforms

Offshore oil & gas platforms, FPSOs, fixed rigs. Where RMRS + IEC 945 certificates matter, it all goes through SAILOR.

Navy & border guard

Border-patrol boats, minesweepers, support vessels. SAILOR has been the backbone of Danish and Norwegian navies; legally available for civilian supply in RF.

FAQ on SAILOR

Didn't find the answer? Email office@omegacharge.ru — we reply within one business day.

GMDSS (Global Maritime Distress and Safety System) is the global maritime distress and safety communication system, mandatory for all SOLAS vessels. Without a working GMDSS kit, a ship is not cleared to sail and class is not confirmed. SAILOR equipment from Thrane&Thrane (now part of Cobham SATCOM) is one of the two world leaders in GMDSS solutions along with JRC, approved by every major classification society, including RMRS and RKO.

SAILOR 6390 Navtex receiver (black-box with LAN interface), SAILOR 6004 Control Panel display (7-inch touch screen) and Navtex antenna. Original RKO and RMRS certificates are included — the equipment can be installed on a Russian-flag vessel and certified without additional approvals.

All three are one Thrane&Thrane series. CH4656 is the 24 V / 10 A version (our variant). CH4666 is a more powerful 24 V version (about 16 A); CH2410 is a compact 12 V. CH4656 runs on 230 V AC and delivers up to 10 A continuously, with four independent fused DC outputs. That's enough to back-feed marine radio systems, including the emergency GMDSS stack in a UPS configuration.

Yes — and that's its main advantage. CH4656 is one of the most compact chargers in the SAILOR lineup (5 kg, 110×370×260 mm), rated for 20–120 Ah batteries. A good fit for workboats, fishing vessels, large yachts, river and coastal ships that don't need full CH4666 power but require reliable certified charging for lead-acid batteries (flooded or sealed). Fully marine-grade: IEC 945, IP22, compass safe distance 1.4 m.

RMRS (Russian Maritime Register of Shipping) and RKO (Russian Classification Society) are the leading Russian classification societies. RMRS is recognized by IMO and IACS and classifies seagoing vessels; RKO handles river and mixed-navigation vessels. Equipment with their certificates can be fitted to Russian-flag ships without additional approvals, and the vessel can obtain a certificate of seaworthiness. Without such certificates, a Navtex receiver formally does not exist for an RMRS inspector, and the ship won't pass class survey.

Yes. SAILOR 6390 is designed as a black-box and can run standalone, feeding Navtex messages to any Integrated Navigation System (INS) via NMEA0183. The receiver has its own alarm relay and USB for message export. But the 6004 display makes crew work much easier — 7-inch touch screen, sorting by stations and types, history of 6,000 messages. That's why it ships in the kit.

Three international Navtex frequencies simultaneously: 518 kHz (international English, mandatory global standard), 490 kHz (national language of the coastal state), 4,209.5 kHz (tropical and distant waters). All three are received in parallel. Memory — 2,000 messages per frequency (6,000 total). The receiver stays in receive mode while powered.

Several CH4656 chargers and one SAILOR 6390 Navtex kit (receiver + 6004 display + antenna) with RKO/RMRS certificates are in stock. Courier delivery across Russia and Kazakhstan within 1 business day after e-mail order confirmation. We recommend reserving — the certified kit is a single unit.
