Local AI for electrical circuits: designation and source sheet

The engineer knows the designation of the element, but it is found in dozens of kits and editions. A useful search result is a specific sheet with dedicated space and version information. The text assistant can explain the query and collect the snippets found if the application maintains a link to the source document.

First determine the set and editing

In the card of the source file, the project, the designation of the document, the edition, the date of acceptance and the status are recorded. Similar sheets from different sets are not combined into one valid version. The user should see in what set the designation is found and on what basis this edition was chosen for work.

Before searching, it is useful to choose an area: one project, current editions or archive for a certain period. If the status is unknown, the result is clearly marked. A search for content should not imperceptibly replace the missing active sheet with a similar archival one.

Coincidence is tied to a place on the page

In the PyMuPDF documentation, the Page.search_for method is described as a text search with return areas on a page. This allows you to show the place of coincidence next to the sheet. The possibility relates to the available text of the document: a raster scan first requires recognition, the quality of which is checked separately.

When preparing the archive, the PDF page number and the printed sheet number are saved: they can vary. For rotated inscriptions and transfers, check that the backlight refers to the desired designation. The area of the text found does not prove the electrical connection of the elements or the correctness of the circuit solution.

What is tested on the test kit

Select repeating designations in different editions, scan without text, small inscription, rotated signature and sheet with different numbering. The employee must open the source page and check the backlight without manually searching the entire file. Missed or uncertain recognition leaves an open question.

The model can offer options for writing a query, but the original designation is kept close by. Similar symbols cannot automatically be considered the same: zero, the letter O, and the mixing of the Cyrillic alphabet with the Latin alphabet can lead to another element. It is useful to show the exact match separately from the proposed options.

What to order with the server

For quotation, you need the number of sets, the proportion of scans, sheet sizes, inscription languages, access rules and an example of a complex request. The application includes import, editorial accounting, OCR, if necessary, index and page viewing with highlight. Text search and analysis of graphical relationships agree as different tasks.

The actual configuration and model are selected after the trial import. When updating, repeat cases with similar designations and check links to sheets. For operation, you need a clear way to add a new accepted version and save the old results, indicating their source.
