Backup power for a NAVIOM AV-110 position: information needed before sizing

If a ground aviation position must remain operational during a main-supply interruption, backup power is a separate part of the installation. The NAVIOM AV-110 specifications give supply ratings and selected current figures, but do not establish an internal battery or a ready-made runtime. Start with the operating pattern and external source. This supports a meaningful backup discussion without turning a few specification figures into a promise of operating hours.
Record the available voltage
The radio supports nominal 12 or 24 V DC supplies, with a maximum voltage of 31.5 V. A project needs to establish the source available at the operating position and how its parameters vary. Support for these voltages does not establish an internal battery-charging function. Where external backup is proposed, agree its output and connections separately using the chosen equipment documentation and the installation design.
Separate the operating loads
At 13.75 V, the AV-110 sheet lists 5 A during transmission and 4 A at maximum volume. These describe two stated situations, not a universal average shift current. Runtime sizing requires transmission duration, normal volume and time spent monitoring. The supplied material gives no standby current. An accurate runtime therefore cannot be obtained by dividing battery capacity by an arbitrarily selected number from these lines.
Include the full load scope
The position may include an external speaker, an antenna path and other agreed equipment. AV-110 audio output is at least 10 W into 4 ohms at 13.75 V. This is neither an external power-supply rating nor the consumption of the whole installation. List the connected equipment and identify which items must remain operational on backup. The short sheet does not list the relevant accessories as included, so record the supply scope explicitly.
Describe the intended backup result
State the required operating time, the main listening or transmission scenario and the acceptable procedure for changing sources. The AV-110 specifications do not establish automatic uninterrupted changeover; that is a separate power-system requirement. Once the equipment is agreed, check the stated scenario rather than an arbitrary maximum-volume condition. This separates the radio’s capabilities from those of the external backup and makes the expected installation outcome clear to both sides.
Questions and answers
Does the AV-110 have an internal battery?
The supplied sheet does not claim one. It lists external nominal 12 and 24 V DC supplies.
Can a runtime be quoted immediately?
No. It requires the external backup parameters and a verified consumption profile for the complete installation.
