Buy PSL or HERCULES-10: 24V stabilization and power supply from reserve

First, determine what the consumer needs.

When repurchasing HERCULES-10, the name of the previous block helps to find the starting position. When adding equipment, it is more useful to start with the passport of a new consumer: the permissible voltage, the nature of the load and the necessary reserve mode. If the device requires a stabilized power supply, this becomes a separate selection condition. The same "24V" and "10A" labels from the two sources do not yet describe the same output conditions.

For example, in the workplace could save the old source, but replace the receiver or add a navigation device. Then the repeated order of the block without updating the consumer statement transfers the previous decision to the changed composition. In the application, divide the immutable part of the kit and the new load. The seller needs specific equipment parameters; the mere designation "marine electronics" does not allow the source to be selected or the replacement confirmed.

PSL and HERCULES are described for different output conditions

In the current page of CIR SPB PSL is represented as a source of stabilized voltage 24 V; the line 24 ± 5% refers specifically to the operation from the network. Instructions of HERCULES-10 2005 describes an unstabilized output of 24 V DC with a tolerance of ±15%. This information provides an objective benchmark for comparison, but refers to the configuration described, not to the measurement of any warehouse instance.

The PSL has an important version boundary: the current page specifies a maximum current of 11 A, and the 2021 specification for the PSL specifies a limit of 10 A. Don’t collect features from different publications into one “improved” specification. The quotation agrees on the labeling of the supplied device and the applicable document.

Main power supply and battery are checked as separate modes

At PSL, the manufacturer publishes a backup entry of 18-27 in DC. The documented HERCULES-10 provides for automatic switching to an external 24V battery when the main power supply disappears or significantly decreases. The presence of a backup input is useful for selection, but in itself does not confirm the desired output in all states of the system.

If a short transition is allowed for the receiver, and the other device must maintain a certain operating mode, report this separately. The review does not assign one guaranteed switching duration to the entire kit. Behavior is assessed by source and consumer documents, then the acceptance requirements are fixed.

The number of outputs does not increase the total current budget

The 2021 PSL description provides for three plug-in loads and simultaneously limits the total current of all outputs to 10 A. So the three outputs don't form three independent 10 A sources. The statement should show simultaneously working devices and their consumption by modes: reception, transmission, launch or other prescribed mode.

For HERCULES-10, the instruction specifies two load connection terminals, a rated current of 10 A and a rated power of 190 W. Keep both restrictions. The 24×10 calculation does not replace the published power with another number. Similarly, the power of the radio transmitter is not equal to the consumption of the radio: the source has to power the device as a whole, including its other nodes.

In the description, add which customers should work at the same time and which retain power supply from the battery. This helps to check the work kit before ordering and distinguish the purchase of another source from the change in the load of an existing one.

Signaling and charging solve their problems

The PSL and HERCULES primary documents describe the notification functions when the main power supply changes. The HERCULES have individual indications of the main network, battery and output availability; the PSL description provides for an external signal via dry contacts. To buy, it is important to know which alarm is already in use and what function the new unit should retain.

The indication record does not automatically confirm an acceptable voltage for each consumer. Also, the backup input does not prove the required battery charge function. If the battery and charger remain in the system, specify their models and documents. The required reserve duration is reported as a task; it is not possible to promise operating hours by a single source name. Details of the power supply are discussed in piecemeal.

The application must link the source to the work kit

Write, for example, "Need a PSL or an agreed replacement for HERCULES-10 for said hardware." Consumer requirements and network data are included. Please confirm network and reserve output, load allowance, configuration and composition.” Such a request leaves the choice open until subject reconciliation. Photos of the installed unit help to link the passport with the place of work, but do not replace the parameters of the equipment.

Quotation and acceptance are fixed for the selected configuration

If the source is ordered for a facility in St. Petersburg or sent to a host organization in Kazan, specify the actual address and the responsible party. To obtain in Almaty, add requirements for accompanying documents and kit contents. Geography helps to coordinate supply; the availability of a local warehouse or fixed term is not promised by this review.

Before receiving, check that the quotation retains the full designation, the applicable document, the composition and the agreed withdrawal terms. For acceptance, determine in advance what documents and results of inspection of the working kit are needed by the customer. Installation and verification of electrical modes are performed according to the documentation of the selected configuration; no terminal circuit or switching procedures are specified here.
